Can be miscible with ethanol, ether, acetone and ethylene glycol, insoluble in benzene and carbon tetrachloride, soluble in water. Spicy and slightly sweet, hygroscopic.

Product application: Used as softening agent of rayon and wetting agent of tobacco, intermediate of some chemical products, also used as automobile engine antifreeze, brake oil and so on.
